Summary
In this class we work on the principles and strategies for controlling and attacking from the mount in brazilian jiu jitsu.
- Understanding that there are two main variations and that each has advantages and disadvantages
- Understanding the relevance of working to get the requisites of a good position during the transition (underhooking and arm isolation)
The Low Mount:
- Good for keeping the position, and for self defense
- Hooks with crossed feet below opponents butt , arms wide open for base, chess to chess connection and crossfacing, and hip pressure.
The High Mount (Technical Mount o S Mount):
- Good for sports bjj and for generating submission opportunities (chokes, and armbars)
- Escalating the knees and going for the S mount or the technical mount.

- Drilling transition from side control to mount (low and high mount)
- Bridge counter drill.
- Push counter drill.
