Summary
In this class we work on the principles and strategies for applying brazilian jiu jitsu in self defense while on top.
Understanding which are the main goals when using bjj in self defense situations:
- Playing on top and dont play guard
- Correctly escaping from disadvantageous positions and going for dominant positions
- Prioritize control over submission.
- If you should go for a submission, prioritize chokes over luxations.
- Understanding why we avoid kicking and punching (is not our game and you will minimize risk of aggressor demand for injuries)
Top Sequences: Punches and kicks defense, go for the clinch, takedown, and go for dominant positions, side control, mount,
- Understanding the relevance of being aware of the environment even after reaching a dominant position. Finding route escapes and being protected against more possible aggressors.
- Relevance of maintaining control on the arms of the aggressor negating access to pockets or any other area he can be hiding a knife or other weapon.
- Do not fight if there are weapons involved
- The only situations that you should fight (Ongoing attacks by persons with mental issues, terrorists attacks and other extreme situations where you can not escape)
- Grappling concepts against knife attack
- Grappling concepts against firearms
- Grappling strategies against several aggressors (Defensive structures and adjusting technical lift).
